January 2025 - The Lindy, BBC 1Xtra, New Day PT.2
Happy New Year!!! Is it too late to say that? We are already almost 10% through 2025. I hope things are going as well as they can and even if they aren't hope you still got that new year bounce energy to get through it.
I'm thinking this year I'll hit y'all with a little update monthly, see how that feels, a summary of the month, what's been going on etc, with only monumental updates in between as they occur.
So I kicked off January with "New Day PT.2" with my homie Nevusside.
A song about new beginnings, I filmed the video in the same park we had a recent memorial for a close family member. This song although written before his death, was soothing in the aftermath. I hope it can provide some realistic optimism for others also.

Then I made my live rap debut (I believe, I've been doing this a long time!) on BBC 1Xtra. If 18 year old me could see me now MAMA I MADE IT !!!!
The fact that BBC 1Xtra would extend their platform to me, a 40 year old GP with an arguably "outdated" style of rap, means so much to me. It's a testament to perseverance, timelessness and the ability to adapt (the beat is not really my style, but as an MC I did what an MC ought to do).

Which brings us up to the NOW, my latest song "The Lindy", a song about longevity. "If you want something to be relevant in 200 years time, do something that would have been relevant 200 years ago". It's complex and multilayered, but in the era of always on the next thing, the theory of the "Lindy Effect" (which has a mathematical basis also!), is a powerful reminder of how important it is to be timeless, and put those hours in, building a strong foundation for whateevr it is you are doing. This is actually the world premiere for the video for the people really locked in
